Case in point, when I was setting up this website, on a whim I asked Grok to create a youtube video plugin. I was shocked it actually knew how to write Textpattern plugins. It created a very nice looking Textpattern plugin with all the bells and whistles. Only one problem it didn’t work.
I tried this because the original version of Textpattern I was trying was 4.9, and all the plugins are outdated now, as it was just released. It turns out 4.9 also has issues with Maria DB, which is a whole other story. So I switched back to good old Textpattern 4.8.8 which was the only version to use for many years.
Tried to create another youtube plugin with Grok for 4.8.8 same story, it don’t work. It’s interesting because it actually recognized the difference between the different versions of Textpattern, just no dice. So yeah this video is dead on about this, on the surface, the code looks amazing, but trying to pour through 100’s of lines of code, is an incredible time waster.
